Kokeshi Krazy - another one of my 'Vintage Faves'.

Some of my favourite Old Vintage Paintbrushes, so gorgeous...

Kokeshi dolls originate from the Tohoku region of Northern Japan and have been produced since the Japanese Edo period (1600-1868). It is believed that these dolls were originally created by woodwork artisans known as kijiya who made them to sell to the tourists who flocked to the hot springs in the area each winter. Spring - A Palette Of Colour.......

Sydney at the moment is awash with the colour & perfume of all the gorgeous  Spring flowers bursting into bloom. With temperatures creeping into the high 20's this week Christmas feels like it's just around the corner........again!! The Lavender in our front garden is in full flower is buzzing with bees which makes a welcoming entrance to our home.

This favourite shot of mine is taken with a Canon Macro Lens, the detail is just stunning! Our day's are getting longer, the sun is rising around 5.00am so no excuse for sleeping in...........although I am sure I'll find one!

Retailer Profile - Doug Up On Bourke @ 901 Bourke Street Waterloo, Sydney.

Every few weeks a Retailer will be featured that stocks our product & has the same passion for Vintage as we do! This week it is Doug Up On Bourke in Waterloo Sydney.

All in a row........

This family business runs from a large warehouse in the inner city suburb of Waterloo. The nondescript exterior of the building belies the veritable treasure trove of goodies that await the visitor. Sophie and Craig have built up a huge & diverse range of stock and one can literally spend hours browsing the many gorgeous pieces from a bygone era. 

A testament to the vast array of antique and vintage wares housed at the premises is the fact that they are the first port of call for many of the big name movie and television production companies seeking authentic, timeless period props for hire. Some of the shows that Doug Up on Bourke have been associated with are the movies, Australia and The Great Gatsby and recent television shows The Renovators, Jamie Durie's Top Design and Underbelly - Razor to name a few.

Driving Miss Rosie.....

Wow, how gorgeous is this little Beaut Ute? It was originally handmade by an Antique Dealer in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. All the details are either hand made or have been made with re-cycled product. The seat is made from original hide leather & the tray is constructed from solid hardwood. The Ute is painted Red so of course it goes much faster!! This is strictly a 'One Off' piece & can't be reproduced to order. What a great Photo Prop or talking point in your shop? It even has NSW numberplates! So, all you Stylists, Designers, Photographers or Retailers out there the good news is its 'FOR SALE'. Please meet one of our many, many Four Legged Furry Friends! Introducing our Cavalier King Charles x Toy Poodle aka 'Cavoodle' whose name is .......... (Drumroll) Rosie. She is the most placid or should I say THE most lazy Logistics Manager here at Picket Fence Imports. Her day is spent overseeing orders, accounts & general running of the business. Overall it is a tad exhausting for her so she is now off for some well earned Zzzzzzzzz's......
